Three days on Glacier's trails
Begin beside Lake McDonald, then move toward Logan Pass and a longer mountain hike when conditions allow.
Good window
Summer to early fall
Trip pace
Easy start, bigger finish
Suggested base
West Glacier or Lake McDonald
The idea
A plan with room to wander.
The days build naturally from a gentle valley walk to high-country views, with a lower-elevation option if the alpine trails are closed.
- 01
Day 1
Lake McDonald and Trail of the Cedars
Arrive on the west side and ease into the park with lakeshore time and a short forest walk.
- 02
Day 2
Hidden Lake Overlook
If Logan Pass is accessible and the trail is open, head for the overlook. Leave time for the drive or shuttle and weather changes.
- 03
Day 3
A longer trail or a valley fallback
Choose a section of the Highline Trail if it fits your group and conditions; otherwise spend the day on a lower-elevation trail.
