Jackson Hole is a valley, not a single resort, and the distinction matters when you book. Jackson Hole Mountain Resort at Teton Village has the reputation and the terrain to justify it, with over four thousand feet of lift-served vertical and a tram to match. Grand Targhee sits on the other side of the Teton range in Idaho, catches more snow, and is far quieter, but reaching it means Teton Pass. Snow King rises straight out of the town of Jackson, is small and steep, and runs lifts at night. Jackson itself is the base for almost everyone; Teton Village is closer to the tram and considerably more expensive; Victor and Driggs, over the pass in Idaho, are the cheap end and carry the pass risk.
